Why Choose BU?

Key Program Benefits

Model of Professional Education

The Boston University online Graduate Programs in Management were developed to encourage its students to adopt a mindset of continuous professional learning and professional improvement.  The suite of programs, comprised of five individual master’s degree programs and four graduate certificates, allows students to earn additional graduate certificates in the areas of project management, international marketing financial markets and institutions, and risk management and organizational continuity, with additional coursework beyond the master’s degree. Outside of the degree and certificates, students in the program learn to become consumers of knowledge.  They are encouraged to be intellectually curious and hungry for knowledge. In each course, instructors reinforce the importance of continual learning through industry periodicals, the latest research and current news.

Uniquely BU

One of the distinctive traits of Boston University is the focus on community. The University and the faculty of the online Graduate Programs in Management are committed to bringing their students into the BU community through the use of online technology, and into the broader community through key networks and diverse students, faculty and alumni around the world. Online discussion boards, synchronous events and assignments, blended online/on-campus student groups and many other opportunities contribute to the BU experience. The department and its programs are focused on “bringing students together” through an array of activities, ranging from the co-mingling of on-campus and online students in courses to short intensive course opportunities, such as the trip to India and the international business simulation. Students in the online Graduate Programs in Management are encouraged to participate in BU social events and activities, such as watching a BU basketball game online, engaging with any of BU’s Facebook or Twitter pages, or networking with classmates in the “Water Cooler” area of the learning management system. It’s the emphasis on community that is so critical and central to the core of the Boston University mission, and we are committed to making our students, online or on-campus, feel like BU is home.

International Recognition

BU’s Metropolitan College Administrative Science Department programs are internationally renowned for their quality curriculum, teaching and faculty. We are proud to be recognized among the international elite by the world’s leading accrediting bodies for excellence in management education. The department’s programs are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International) which is a distinction awarded only to the very top universities worldwide. The graduate management programs in Boston and online are accredited by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) Program Accreditation System (EPAS).  This makes the department one of very few United States universities to hold this important European accreditation. In addition, the Master of Science in Project Management is accredited by the Project Management (PMI) Global Accreditation Center for Project Management Education Programs (GAC). While each of these accreditations is impressive in its own regard, the combination of the three speaks to the international recognition of these programs as one of the world’s top business/administration programs. Boston University stands as the only university in the world to simultaneously hold all three prestigious accreditations. Companies and academic institutions worldwide recognize the quality of a Boston University Department of Administrative Sciences degree, placing its students and graduates in a class of their own when it comes to jobs, promotions and international respect.
