A Decade of Distance Learning

Ten years ago, BU launched its first fully online degree program. Today, we’re known for 21st century best practices in distance learning.
It all began with one full-time faculty member and just one class – Metropolitan College’s Master of Criminal Justice. Since our inception online, we have grown to become a leading distance education provider, offering 14 degree programs, 5 graduate certificates, and 7 professional certificates in conjunction with 18 programs from 11 schools and colleges. We’re proud to be rated the most trusted model of distance learning in American higher education.

What’s next for MET?
Now that we have completed our first decade of distance learning, we have blazed a trail and know the way forward. We will continue to not only conduct education online, but to lead the way by delivering a high-quality learning experience for students around the world. We will remain innovative in our thinking and our execution. We will find the most efficient ways to integrate learning into the working lives of busy professionals. We have already set a high standard for what online education should be, and now, we have even higher expectations of ourselves.

Why choose online learning at BU?
The same accomplished, research-focused scholars who teach on campus also teach online, so you know you are receiving an authentic, high-quality BU education. To match the level of instruction on campus, MET College and the Administrative Sciences department continually invest in distance learning, course design, and educational technology. Each faculty member is committed to ensuring students have access to the most cutting-edge tools available. This is how we ensure you learn from the best and with the best.
